In February 2003 FotoPlus started to manage a few databases dedicated to the recording of the photographic activity in Brazil, aiming to sketch an extensive panorama of such production in the country. Structured originally for the coverage of the segment in the city of São Paulo (Southern Brazil), the project now includes the city of Rio de Janeiro as well and so many others. The current search interfaces are very simple, but it is possible, nevertheless, to retrieve a wide spectrum of information. The extension of coverage and the need to make these documents public were decisive aspects in offering this service as quickly as possible, despite the urgent need to further improve the search interfaces.
The coverage includes the whole of Brazilian editorial production on Photography - books, magazines and other formats (calendars, fashion catalogs, postcards...) - as well as foreign editions on Photography in Brazil. Total of records: 13.611 (June 6, 2025)
The Event database spans to include events related to the diffusion of photography (exhibitions, book launches...), Photography teaching and research in Brazil, with prominence for the production in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
