Among 1940’ and 1970’, Brazil faced very remarkable moments of economic and cultural development. Just after the 2nd Word War, the Southeast area of Brazil had a significant growth of the industrial park, concentred then in the State of São Paulo.

That growth allowed that a great number of photographers oriented their services to a significant volume of new clients, working as industrial photographers, documenting the facilities and the production processes, and also as advertising photographers.

This site, dedicated to the work of the photographer Hans Gunter Flieg, presents a brief profile of one representative professional on these segments. Covering a period of four decades, Flieg’s images reflect the industrial growth, the introduction of new products to home as well as the investment in the base industry and in production of electricity to industrial and urban uses.

Flieg’s archive includes circa of 20.000 images and has been a valious documentation to Brazilian and foreign researchers.
